Motion Control Product Overview

FLAG-Force Limiting Auto Grasp

FLAG is a feature designed for the Motion Control Hand and ETD it allows you to limit your grip force, whenever you need to use more care when holding something delicate, like a child’s hand, or a light bulb.

When you are learning to use your electric Hand or ETD, you may have situations when you do not yet “trust your own strength”. You can feel safe that you won’t crush what you are holding, by turning on FLAG. Use it for:

• Holding a child’s hand

• Gripping a soft or plyable object

• Holding a plastic bottle . . . or a paper cup

• Managing delicate items like an egg, ice cream cone, fruit, etc.

• Working on intricate projects or hobbies

Force Limiting

On devices where FLAG is installed it can be turned on or off as needed. With FLAG enabled, closing is still proportional but maximum speed is cut in half for better control. On closing, when the Terminal Device comes in contact with an object, force will limit to about 2 lbs/9N of grip force – then it “buzzes”.

The user can then pulse the force up one level as needed for a snug hold. Each pulse adds about 2 lbs/ 9N of grip force. Grip force can be pulsed a maximum of 10 times, to about 22 lbs of pinch force.

To open the terminal device a sustained signal of about 1 second will open the hand proportionally, in Dual Channel Control

Auto Grasp

When FLAG is enabled, a quick, inadvertent opening signal will result in a single pulse up in grip force, to prevent dropping the object.
